This position is for a licensed general dental practitioner.  The clinical dentist provides diagnostic, preventative and treatment dental services under various public dental programs to residents of Prince Edward Island.  The clinical dentist reports to the Senior Dental Consultant on matters of clinical practice, professional development, and administrative/operational matters.  The clinical dentist also collaborates with the Provincial Dental Programs Manager on the day-to-day running of the clinic.

 

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Provide diagnostic and dental treatment services to participants in the Provincial Dental Care Program which includes, but is not limited to:
    • children aged 0-17.
    • residents of long-term care facilities.
    • low-income adults, including seniors.
    • other populations as required with the changing needs of Dental Public Health programming.
  • Being prepared to provide dental treatment in fixed clinics and/or mobile dental clinics throughout PEI.
  • Participate collaboratively with other health care professionals to provide primary oral health care to individuals and their families.
  • Maintain accurate dental records.
  • Undertake to enhance skills and remain current with professional practice competencies.
  • Give dental and clinical input on an as required basis into the planning and administrative decisions of the Dental Public Health unit.
  • Travel as required on occasional basis.
  • Administration of nitrous oxide sedation where appropriate

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation with a Doctor of Dental Medicine or Dental Surgery.
  • License to practice dentistry in the province of Prince Edward Island.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Access to reliable transportation.    
  • The successful applicant must provide a satisfactory criminal record and vulnerable sector check prior to beginning employment.

Salary Range:               $60.19 - $75.23 per hour (Level 28)

Bi-Weekly Hours:        75 hours bi-weekly / Days / Monday to Friday /
